In a congressional hearing, the Sergeant at Arms, Timolthy Blodgett goofed and confirms Lieutenant Mike Leroy Byrd killed Ashli Babbitt.
From what is being reported, many news outlets have known the identity, but refused to run the story.

Mr. Blodgett also claims Mike Leroy Byrd rendered aid. That does not seem to be the case after reviewing the video of the killing of that day.
