It seems that Google is on the forefront of producing Artificial Intelligence or programming to limit free speech. The new program is called “Perspective” and was created to detect “abusive” comments online in an effort to crack down on hate speech in comment sections. Free speech, hate speech, what’s the difference?
Publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Economist are testing the new software as a way of policing comments sections, according to the Financial Times.
So, “news publications” are the reason that this program has progressed and being trialed.
“News organizations want to encourage engagement and discussion around their content, but find that sorting through millions of comments to find those that are trolling or abusive takes a lot of money, labor and time,” said Jared Cohen, president of Jigsaw, the Google social incubator that built the tool. “As a result, many sites have shut down comments altogether. But they tell us that isn’t the solution they want.”
It’s being reported that “Perspective” is available to all publications that are currently part of Google’s Digital News Initiative. This includes The Guardian, the BBC and The Financial Times. In theory, the software could also be utilized by social media companies such as Facebook and Twitter.
So watch out! The “hate speech detector” is coming to a App near you! This is what I think about when I read all this:
Google launches AI program to detect hate speech Censor Conservative Speech.
Let me help Google fine tune its hate speech detection system:
“Google is a globalist danger to the world, and any fascist company that would infringe upon my right to free speech is the same type of organization that Nazi Germany ran in 1940.” Somewhere in the Google headquarters: (Alarm sound): BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP “Hate speech, hate speech!!!”
