The New York Post reports that de Blasio made an accusation while speaking at Al Sharpton’s activism organization, “the National Action Network.”
New York City mayor Bill de Blasio says the federal government is not helping Puerto Rico with its debt delinquency because the U.S. territory is populated by “people of color.”
The mayor is currently dogged by a criminal investigation of his election fundraising, has been beating the drum for a Puerto Rico bailout since July of last year.
Puerto Rico has defaulted on a nine-figure debt payment this past Monday. According to Bloomberg, hedge funds hold $15 billion of the Caribbean island’s debts. De Blasio is putting pressure on Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan to let the territory declare bankruptcy.
First, this lame brain is in cahoots with Al Sharpton, a shake down corporation used to push its way through force.
Second, the mayor has his own set of problems with “money” and thinks he can push an agenda in the news to cover over his indiscretions. Trying to pander to his Puerto Rico inhabitants in the city, which is about 70% in the city, according to Wikipedia.
