WASHINGTON (AP) — Trust in the news media is being eroded by perceptions of inaccuracy and bias, fueled in part by Americans’ skepticism about what they read on social media.
Just 6 percent of people say they have a lot of confidence in the media, putting the news industry about equal to Congress and well below the public’s view of other institutions. In this presidential campaign year, Democrats were more likely to trust the news media than Republicans or independents.
But trust today also goes beyond the traditional journalistic principles of accuracy, balance and fairness.
Yeah right, blame the social media stuff…
This is because most Democrats are pretty much idiots and gullible. Of course I could cast a wider dispersion and say voters in general. But how is it that Republicans and Independents are realizing that the Press/Media are full of Shit?
I know the general public (ones with no cable or internet) must rely on the major networks on free air TV and is getting fed the same bull across the board.
Most people will not search out truth, but rather want it given to them or even worse expect it. Kinda like an “Obama phone”.
The funny thing is the AP explains in this news article that the Press/Media believes that they are not being accurate and thus losing their readers/listeners. Only the inaccurate stuff? Really? Seriously?
Personally, they don’t even follow the rules they set forth in good journalistic integrity. The fairness and balance are being completely left out.
